A proverb is generally a short saying which contains wisdom, truth, morals. Instead of expressing in long confusing verbose sentence to advice people to do the right thing or remind others to correct their wrongdoings.
I prefer to use short powerful proverbs and sayings. Just a few words is suffice to get the message across. Yes, they speak less, but say more.
