It is, indeed, the season of regenerated feeling—the season for kindling, not merely the fire of hospitality in the hall, but the genial flame of charity in the heart.
So the so-called correct quote is not: “Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart.” as published in many books, websites and even newspapers.
By the way, Washington Irving was the American short story writer who is best known for his short stories “Rip Van Winkle“, “Tales Of A Traveler” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow“.
